The 8012 Burkert flow meter consists of accessory S012 and electronic module SE12. Bürkert's assembly system simplifies installation for all accessories suitable for DN06-DN65. It can also be integrated into customer-customized valve systems.
With a fundamentally different electronic module type, the 8012 Burkert turbine six-stage flow sensor features a pulse output to generate a flow proportional frequency or for use as an output switch, and also includes a 4…20 mA current output signal.
The Burkert 8012 flow sensor with impeller is available in two designs: a magnetic design suitable for neutral and slightly corrosive liquids without solids, and an optical design suitable for IR-transparent liquids. The sensor consists of a connector (model S012) and an electronics module (model SE12).
The connector system, designed by Bürkert, ensures easy installation of the Burkert sensor in all pipe sizes from DN06 to DN50. It can also be integrated into customer-specific modular systems.

For applications where only process flow is measured without precise control and metering, a lower accuracy class, such as 1.5, 2.5, or even 4.0, can be selected. In this case, the inexpensive Burkert insertion turbine flow meter can be used.
- Measurable Media: Measuring medium velocity, instrument range, and diameter. When measuring general media, the full-scale flow rate of the Burkert turbine flow meter can measure medium velocities from 0.5 to 12 m/s. The selection range is relatively wide. The instrument specification (diameter) does not necessarily have to be the same as the process pipeline. It should be determined based on whether the measured flow rate is within the velocity range. guaranteed at this velocity, the instrument diameter needs to be reduced to increase the internal flow velocity and obtain satisfactory measurement results. For Burkert turbine flow meter installation, to ensure the accuracy of the Burkert turbine flow meter, the correct selection of the installation location and method is essential. Requirements for straight pipe sections: The Burkert flow meter must be installed horizontally on the pipeline (pipe inclination within 5 degrees). During installation, the flow meter axis should be concentric with the pipeline axis, and the flow direction should be consistent. For German Burkert flow meters, the upstream pipeline length should have a straight pipe section of equal diameter not less than 2D. If the installation site allows, it is recommended that the upstream straight pipe section be 20D or less, and 5D at the maximum. Requirements for piping: The inner diameter of the upstream and downstream piping at the installation point of the German Burkert flow meter should be alternating with the inner diameter of the flow meter. Burkert flowmeter, shut-off valves (check valves) should be installed before and after the Burkert flowmeter, and a bypass pipe should also be provided. The flow control valve should be installed downstream of the Burkert flowmeter. When the flowmeter is in use, the upstream shut-off valve must be fully open to avoid unstable flow in the upstream section. Requirements for external environment: The Burkert flowmeter is best installed indoors. If it must be installed outdoors, it is essential to take measures to protect it from rain, lightning, and other hazards to avoid affecting its service life. Requirements for impurities in the medium: To ensure the service life of the Burkert flowmeter, a filter should be installed before the straight section of the Burkert flowmeter. Installation Location: Burkert flow meters should be installed in locations easily accessible for maintenance, free from interference from high-voltage electrical systems and heat radiation. Regarding welding requirements, the user must provide a separate pair of standard flanges to weld onto the upstream and downstream pipes;
- welding with the Burkert flow meter directly attached is not permitted. Before installing the Burkert flow meter, thoroughly remove welding slag and other contaminants from the pipes. It is best to use a pipe of equal diameter (or a bypass pipe) to purge the pipes to ensure the flow meter is not damaged during use. When installing a Burkert flow meter, the sealing gasket between the flanges must not be recessed into the pipe. Burkert Flow Meter Grounding Requirements: The flow meter must be reliably grounded and cannot share a ground wire with a high-voltage electrical system.
