The Burkert 8605 controller, which is compatible with German Burkert proportional valves, can also be directly controlled by PWM signals in a PLC. However, while theoretically feasible, actual operation depends on the current value.

II. Overview: Based on a solenoid valve that closes upon power failure due to spring action, the structure of the electromagnetic components in the solenoid valve is modified to balance the spring force with the electromagnetic force of the coil current.
The valve core stroke and/or valve opening are determined by the magnitude of the coil current and/or electromagnetic force. The valve opening is proportional to the electromagnetic force.
It is controlled by a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, which causes the coil current to vary according to the set value. Since both the medium pressure and electromagnetic force overcome the spring force, a controller can be used to set the minimum and maximum flow rates under operating conditions.
