• Isolate the Temprite oil separator from the system.
• Recover or recover refrigerant from the Temprite oil separator.
• Ensure there is no internal pressure in the Temprite separator, otherwise it may cause personal injury and/or equipment damage.
• Loosen the flange bolts, gaskets, and nuts. Set aside the gaskets for reuse.
• Use a screwdriver to pry open the top plate at 180° intervals and carefully remove the top plate.
• Remove the Temprite filter retaining nut and sealing gasket, and set the filter nut aside for reuse.
• Remove the old Temprite filter and its O-ring.
• Ensure the filter sealing surface inside the separator is smooth and clean of dirt.
• Install a new genuine Temprite standard filter. 9.1 Apply a thin film of oil to the O-ring on the new Temprite filter, then insert the new filter into the separator, centering it so the O-ring is on the sealing surface. 9.2 Install the new sealing gasket and retain the temprite filter nut. 9.3 Tighten the filter nut until the filter no longer rotates. 9.4 Tighten the temprite filter nut 1 to 1 1/2 turns.
• Remove the old O-ring from the top plate. Clean the groove and place the new O-ring in the groove. Apply oil around the O-ring inside the separator flange ring and around the internal sealing surface.
• Place the top plate (O-ring facing the container opening) directly over the container flange opening and press the plate squarely into the flange ring opening with both hands using even pressure. If done correctly, the O-ring should "click" into the opening. If the pressing is uneven, the O-ring may not seal properly, and a gap may exist between the top plate and the container flange ring, indicating an incorrect seal. If this is the case, remove the top plate, ensure the O-ring is undamaged, apply more oil to the flange ring and O-ring, and then reassemble until the O-ring clicks into place. Reinstall the bolts and lock the gasket.
• Tighten the bolts gradually in an alternating star pattern to a torque of 50 ft.-lbs.
• Return the separator to service and slowly open the isolation valve to prevent flow into the oil separator.
• Verify that there are no O-ring leaks.
