Do not wipe the bulb with a paper towel, otherwise the electrostatic charge will transfer to the glass membrane, prolonging the potential stabilization time. A better method is to rinse the electrode with the test solution.
• After inserting the Prominent pH composite electrode into the test solution, stir and shake it a few times before letting it stand still. This will speed up the electrode response. Especially when using a plastic-cased pH composite electrode, the stirring and shaking should be more vigorous because there is a small cavity between the bulb and the plastic shell. Sometimes, when the electrode is immersed in the solution, the gas in the cavity cannot be expelled in time, resulting in air bubbles, which can cause poor contact between the bulb or liquid junction and the solution. Therefore, vigorous stirring and shaking are necessary to remove air bubbles.
• After testing in viscos samples, the electrode must be rinsed repeatedly with deionized water to remove the sample adhering to the glass membrane. solvents first, then wash away the solvent with water, and then immerse it in the immersion solution for activation.
• Avoid contact with strong alkalis or corrosive solutions. If testing with such solutions, minimize the immersion time of the ProMinter pH meter and clean it thoroughly after use.
• Avoid use in dehydrating media such as anhydrous ethanol and concentrated sulfuric acid, as these will damage the hydrated gel layer on the bulb surface.
• The outer shell material of the plastic-cased pH electrode composite is polycarbonate plastic (PC). PC plastic can dissolve in some solvents, such as carbon tetrachloride and trichloroethylene. If the test contains these solvents, it will damage the ProMinter electrode shell. In this case, a glass-cased pH composite electrode should be used instead.
